Freeze Mode — Explained | Human Mechanics | Auto-Mode Troubleshooting Tip #02

Do you find yourself in freeze mode.. a little too often?

Shutting down during the moments in life when you feel unsafe or overwhelmed, is not a system malfunction — it is an invitation.

You run on a set of ever evolving patterns and habits that adjust in countless natural ways as your life evolves.

While these repeated behaviors are automatic, and consistent — you do have the biological ability to influence them.

During a freeze mode moment, your system is not temporarily glitched out — It’s responding to your executive override power.

When a situation in life has upset you and you instinctually want to fight — but you don’t..

Or you instinctually want to run — but you don’t..

What’s next?

Your system isn’t holding you back from taking action — it’s waiting for you to decide what the next action will be.

When you have consciously interrupted auto-mode and are now in control of your response choices — You wont be influencing your system to automatically flood you with fight or flight chemicals and altered awareness levels.

You will be influencing it to wait and respond to your next signal.

But, when the auto-mode interrupt moment is too energetically expensive — you may temporarily experience a lower level of awareness right after, which tends to make your next move seem nearly  impossible to decide.

..But you can move through that threshold.

Embrace the Invite

The next time you find yourself stuck, frozen in a moment of panic — remind yourself it’s your opportunity to make the next move.

Give yourself a 30 second pause — count silently out loud if possible, then take one deep breath and step forward to symbolize you’re ready to make a move now.

Next, reevaluate the situation as quickly and simply as you can.

Are you in physical danger? Should you be running now?

Are you having an emotional response to a particularly ugly trigger? Should you be regulating now?

The answers will determine the next step you can take to get yourself back into control and help your system determine the kind of mechanical assistance you need in the process.
